Information for Students and Families

Scholar Expectations

All scholars at John Early are expected to maintain a high standard in their attendance, academics, and behavior. Families are expected to stay informed through communication with the teacher and through the parent portal.

Family Involvement

Family involvement is a key lever to scholar success at John Early. Through Community Achieves and our community partners, we provide resources for families. However, we also need family members to help lead our work. If you are interested in serving on our Family Leadership Council this year, please contact Principal Riggs.

After School Programs

After school programming at John Early provides a safe learning environment available to all scholars during out-of-school hours. These opportunities exist for our scholars but also to support our families and their schedules.

We offer free after-school programs through our sports programs, Backfield in Motion and Dream Streets.

Sign-ups for all programs are available in the main office.

Volunteer at John Early

Volunteering at John Early is encouraged for all families. There are many different volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. Our biggest need is for family volunteers to help during lunch and recess. Other volunteering duties include helping in the library, organizing take home items for students, helping during after school events, or even making copies for teachers and staff.

For information about current volunteer opportunities at John Early please contact the school. For additional information regarding how to sign up to be a volunteer within the MNPS school system please visit the Get Involved page on the MNPS district website.

MNPS Handbook

The Metro Schools Student-Parent Handbook is available online.
