Our School
John Early Museum Magnet Middle School serves 6th-8th grade scholars and their families in North Nashville. Located in the MetroCenter area, we offer a convenient location for families who work downtown. Additionally, we offer after school programming that ends at 6 p.m.
We are a direct pathway to both Pearl-Cohn and Hume-Fogg high schools.
Academically, we offer Honors classes for English and math. As a newly designated AVID school, we offer college and career readiness, strategies and experiences for all scholars. We have seen both growth and achievement gains in reading and math the prior two years.
Our scholars also have opportunities in art and band, expanding their access to college and career options. We also offer several sports such as volleyball, football, cheer, basketball, wrestling, track and field, and soccer.
Additionally, our scholars receive free school supplies for the entire school year. Our dress code is simple, allowing scholars to wear clothes they already own and the freedom to express themselves.

Museum Education
John Early Museum Magnet School integrates local museum resources, artifacts, and experts into the curriculum to provide hands-on, experiential learning. We focus on asking "big questions," encouraging critical thinking and exploration.
In the museum, scholars learn real-world skills like conservation, exhibition design, and research in collaboration with experts through inquiry. Our goal is to turn the entire community into a classroom. We strive to drive deeper through cognitive engagement and student-centered investigation.
Our school museum often partners with local cultural and scientific organizations. We use them as extensions of the classroom. These relationships help scholars to fostering deeper understandings and promotes curiosity through direct engagement with art, history, math, science, and language arts.
