It is the expectation that all John Early scholars will follow the dress code policy every school day. Special exceptions to this policy will be sent home in advance. Administration has the final decision on dress code. Only items in the Dress Code Policy are allowed. All other clothing items and accessories are disallowed and will result in corrective action as outlined below.
Tops: Scholars may wear shirts with or without a collar including John Early shirts and sweatshirts. Tops must extend to the pants, shorts, or skirt. Tops cannot reveal shoulders, stomach, or be torn revealing skin.
Bottoms:
Scholars may wear pants, slacks, jeans, shorts, or skirts.
Bottoms must be worn at the waist and should not reveal skin or underwear.
Bottoms must be as long as the hand when placed by the side.
Bottoms cannot have rips, holes, or tears that reveal skin.
Outerwear:
Scholars may wear John Early sweatshirts (one provided).
Scholars may wear head scarves.
Scholars may wear religious coverings.
Hoodies are not allowed to be worn during school hours (with or without the hood on).
Footwear:
Scholars may wear any shoes that fully cover both the toes and the heels.
Crocs, slippers, slides, flip-flops, and any other footwear are not allowed.
Dress Code Violations:
1st incident: Scholar must change clothes with provided school clothes until a family member provides appropriate clothing.
2nd incident: In addition to changing clothes, the parent/guardian will immediately meet with the Dean of Students or the scholar will receive 6 hours of in-school suspension.
3rd incident: In addition to changing clothes, the parent/guardian will immediately meet with the Executive Principal and the scholar will receive 6 hours of in-school suspension and cannot participate in extra-curricular activities for 5 school days.
4th incident: A behavior infraction for Repeated Violations of 200 Level Offenses will be issued and may result in out-of-school suspension.
